What do you find to be the most important task that you are in charge of?
Making the retainers for the patients. It is very detailed work and important that I take my time or the patients will be in pain.
Jonathan takes the impressions and does the sanitation in the office so it makes sense that he would find this important. I have personally seen how precise he is in his work.

Why have you personally found that Orthodontics is important?
Orthodontics is important to me because we get to help people feel good about themselves. Also, many times older patients come in to us and they are in pain because of some dental problem and we get to help ease their pain. So, thats pretty cool. Also meeting new people and forming relationships with our patients is really neat.
He got so excited as he kept talking after I asked him this questioned. It seemed like the more he thought about it, the more ways he came up with that orthodontics is important.

What made you want to work in an Orthodontist office?
My father is a Dentist in Mexico and I began working with him at a very young age, so when I moved to America I was working with a construction company and I knew for sure that was not something I wanted to do. Eventually, I worked my way into an orthodontic lab, and then this position opened up and I wanted it because I always loved working in the office with my dad.
It is touching to see how his family ties brought him to where he’s at today. He knew what he wanted and he worked for it.

Do you feel like people's lives can be notably affected by orthodontists?
I think just the fact that we can brightens someone's smile and change their self-confidence is notable. What we do isn't life or death but it does in some ways still affect their lives and happiness.
He makes a valid point and makes me excited about the future.

What’s your favorite part of your workday?
My favorite part is when I’m taking x-rays and the little kids are always confused at first and shy. I joke around with them and it makes them more at ease.
Jonathan is such a sweet man I always see him interacting with the kids he really loves his job.

Do you feel like orthodontists have a large role in people’s lives?
I wouldn’t say a large role no. We aren’t absolutely necessary for anyone really.
He makes a good point.

Do you ever worry about your purpose while working as a orthodontist as opposed to someone saving lives?
No. I am a Christian so the purpose of my life is in Gods hands. This job is all part of his plan.
Jonathan has even told me that he plays guitar and sings at his church.

Do you have a lot of time for your family while working this job?
Yes. Family is very important to me and this job is flexible and my boss is very understanding.
Jonathan has a very sweet wife whom i’ve met once and 2 sons. Around Christmas time he would always talk about his boys and what he was going to do with them and get them.

What is the worst part of your job?
The worst part is when we are having a slow day and there is nothing for me to do. I like to be on my feet with plenty to do during the day. It makes things go by faster and keeps me from getting bored.
When it’s a slow day in the office it’s honestly the worst thing everyone goes to the break room and just waits till there’s a patient.

What type of people would you recommend to do this job?
People who are willing to work hard and keep a positive mindset. Also people who really want to be here because no one wants to be around a co-worker who is completely miserable every day.
Jonathan always tells me to make sure that anything I do it’s something I positively love because then things will come easily to me and I will have a lot more fun in life and be more happy.
